Plastic Estate Dive Headlong into New-Wave Infused Indie Pop Bliss with their Video for “This Place”

Welsh synth-duo Plastic Estate have captured perfectly the warm idyllic spirit of 1980s indie pop and new wave in such a way that has already proven the act as a formidable songwriting team with their new single “This Place”.

Hailing from the burgeoning music scene in Cardiff Wales, Plastic Estate match the craft of their local compatriot’s Chain Of Flowers, Night Thoughts, and Private World (Dais Records)—the latter of which the two boys are also live members of.

Yet while creating music in this new project, obviously wearing the influences of Prefab Sprout, Aztec Camera, and even Depeche Mode, on their proverbial sleeves, there is a careless abandoned and youthful and languid romantic flair in the timelessness of the melodies of the two brilliant hybrid electronic and acoustic songs that comprise both the A and B-sides of the single. In fact, “Have You Ever”—a soulful honied croon sounding like a warm Sad Lovers and Giants with a bubbling disco beat, is just as fantastic as “This Place”—and that is indeed saying something,

The duo Plastic Estate, composed by Nicholas James and Stanley Fouracres have opened for The Murder Capital at Sŵn Festival and played alongside the likes of M!R!M, Josiah Konder, and The Love Coffin.

Following three digital singles released in 2019, “This Place” is the first physical release from Plastic Estate, and it’s due on both 7-inch vinyl and digital on June 19th through Avant! Records.
