Into the blue sky, Takes me far away, Into the sunset, Rising in from another day
The Pixies are back this week with their video for “Human Crime”, their first new track since their October 2020 single “Hear Me Out”.
The song was produced and mixed by Tom Dalgety in Los Angeles in the fall of last year. Penned by frontman Black Francis, It is reflective and bittersweet, asking for compassion for a lost relationship that lingers in the physical spaces associated with memory, coloring even the brightest moments with sadness.
“Human Crime” features a playful music video directed by the Pixies bassist, Paz Lenchantin that was filmed at the abandoned bunkers in San Pedro, and Gold Diggers Bar in Los Angeles.
“The storyline is loosely based on an ‘inside joke’ between Charles and I about going on tour,” Lenchantim explains. “How we go through a door from our reality state into the altered state of becoming and being a Pixie.”
