NYC’s dark indie-synth duo Tempers have returned with the melancholic dreamscape “The Use of My Belonging”, a song that feels like the glow of cinders in the dark, while light cascades through Venetian blinds sighing in the distance from an open windowsill, the hour of the day a sombre uncertainty

“The Use of My Belonging” is indeed a mood—sonically captured in perfect sync by both Jasmine Golestaneh and Eddie Cooper, who cut the track within their bedrooms across NYC during the city’s stringent lockdown and rise of the Black Lives Matter protests.
“Watching inequalities intensify to unethical extremes, as systems of power swerve into nightmarish realms of greed, brutality and oppression inspired the song,” they explain. “The song is about the hope that love will prevail in an era of post-truth, that the return to love is somehow natural and inevitable.”

Last year, Tempers, finding a new home at Dais Records, released one of the best tracks of 2019 with the album single “Capital Pains”.
Both Goldstaneh and Cooper, experts in both art and production respectively, operate as a multi-disciplined entity in the spirit and ethos of Factory Records. During there creative tenure weaving icy electronic melodies over recent years, the pair have become an integral part of the international music scene—touring and traveling coast to coast, and across the Atlantic—spending considerable time in Europe conjuring their sonic soundscapes and aural fever-dreams.
The two describe their creative process as a telepathic kinship they’ve developed since they started making music together:
“We have these sort of unspoken criteria when we’re writing music. We never really need to explain what that is but we both know when it’s missing or when we’ve hit it.”
