Stella Rose Debuts Video for Smoldering Alt-Rock Anthem “HOLLYBABY”

Today, New York City’s rising singer-songwriter Stella Rose drops her latest single and lyric video for HOLLYBABY, the title track from her latest EP. Following the previous track, MS.45, a poetic, spine-tingling first single spun into song by longtime collaborator Yves Rothman of KRO Records, HOLLYBABY lands with a punch. Stella’s sultry voice threads through a wild, punk-infused soundscape, while a menacing bass line throbs beneath her echoing refrain, “I’m a loose wire.”

Stella Rose unveils one of her most enthralling songs to date—a powerful, smoldering track that oozes swagger. Her raw, poetic essence merges with a serpentine sound that both coils and strikes, crafting a musical experience that’s razor-sharp and intensely captivating. Drawing inspiration from Patti Smith’s fierce lyricism, PJ Harvey’s gritty determination, Suicide’s haunting rhythms, and the indelible legacy of her father, Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, she transcends mere imitation in her new EP. Instead of simply mirroring these influences, she engages them in a dynamic dialogue, infusing fresh and relentless rhythms that allow the work to stand proudly on its own.

Watch the lyric video for “HOLLYBABY” below:

For Hollybaby, Stella stepped out of her comfort zone, trading New York’s familiar rhythms for the blistering heat of Los Angeles. In this city ablaze with energy, she finished her home-recorded demos. Embracing tight deadlines, she wrote with newfound urgency, breathing “second life” into raw ideas. As each day’s temperatures soared past 100 degrees, she and Rothman fed off the sweltering tension, channeling that feverish discomfort into her loudest, rawest work yet—a creation brimming with heat and unbridled, restless energy.

Addressing the EP as a whole, Stella adds, “Like any piece of work, I’d hope that there’s something listeners can find in the music that resonates with their own experience. There can be a sense of isolation in these well-defined worlds we create as human beings. Beauty in all the madness—these themes feel ever present in this EP.”

The Hollybaby EP is due for release on December 13th via KRO Records.
