Your lips, your eyes, your voice, your walk… I must be dreaming again
As the days stretch longer and the nights come alive, music once again fills the warm air with irresistible rhythms and promises of romance. Just in time to usher in the summer, Nuovo Testamento unveils “Picture Perfect,” a sparkling anthem perfectly crafted for moonlit nights and euphoric dance floors. With this luminous single, the Los Angeles-based trio—Chelsey Crowley (vocals), Giacomo Zatti (drums), and Andrea Mantione (synth)—sets the stage for a season alive with passion, melody, and carefree abandon.
Already beloved for their evocative blend of catchy Italo-disco rhythms and radiant synth-pop melodies, Nuovo Testamento have consistently enthralled dance floors from Los Angeles to all across Europe. Now, with the upcoming release of their eagerly anticipated EP, Trouble—out July 25th via their own imprint, Discoteca Italia—the trio offers their most sophisticated and adventurous collection of songs yet. Seamlessly merging the vibrant spirit of freestyle with lush synth textures and alternative pop influences, Trouble promises to soundtrack a summer brimming with jubilant nights and endless possibilities.
Paving the way for this exciting new chapter, “Picture Perfect” sees Nuovo Testamento boldly leaning further into early ’90s pop structures and rhythms, featuring vibrant house piano chords reminiscent of Saint Etienne, Debut-era Björk, and Dee Lite. Ever true to their ethos of evolution and innovation, the band has never been one to repeat a formula to the T—Yet Crowley’s dynamic vocals and irresistibly catchy hooks still retain the infectious grooves and propulsive 1980s freestyle pop that have made Nuovo Testamento beloved by diverse underground music audiences on dance floors worldwide.
Expanding on the emotional core of the single, the band beautifully articulates its underlying sentiment:
“It’s about a sweet, pure kind of desire – adoration, admiration, wanting, hope. It’s free of doubt and full of conviction. There’s no pain in this song, only the joy of someone’s existence and knowing that they are meant for you. It’s asking for trust until someone knows as much as you do about who you will be to one another.”
Directed, filmed, and edited by Alfred Lopez, the official video for “Picture Perfect” is pure visual jubilation. Set against stark yet stylish backdrops awash in earthy greens and sleek greys punctuated by vibrant flashes of lyrical red, the video spotlights Chelsey’s magnetic presence alongside elegantly expressive choreography by Jared J. Jenkins. Dancers Tokumi Wantanabe, Meka Vincini, and Daylen Taylor lend their kinetic grace to the production, creating an energetic spectacle that perfectly mirrors the song’s carefree passion and irresistible rhythm.

Since launching in 2019, Nuovo Testamento has steadily evolved, beginning with the icy-cold wave allure of their debut EP, Exposure (Avant! Records), before soaring to critical acclaim with their breakout album, New Earth. Their sound further crystallized with 2023’s self-released Love Lines, which earned them coveted tour spots alongside luminaries such as Molchat Doma and The Soft Moon, as well as remix collaborations with Drab Majesty, Curses, and Scowl. With polished production by Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon), the band has carved out a distinct, compelling body of work that sets them apart in the modern synth-pop landscape.
Trouble is out July 25th via Discoteca Italia.
