Night Foundation Drift into a Sombre Slumber with The Video For “Don’t Get Me Wrong”

If tonight you are in need of a post-punk lullaby, Night Foundation has you covered—a blanket of soft and gentle sonic bliss.

With music reminiscent of the daydreams on Slowdive’s Pygmalion, or Factory Records masterpiece, The Return of the Durutti Column, and it’s followup LC, Night Foundation takes deep inspiration from Krautrock and ambient music as well as the dark, rhythmic pulse of post-punk.

The act is the solo vehicle of visual artist and non-musician Richard Vergez, who conceived it as an instrumental electronic project to explore minimalist psychedelia, utilizing all analogue hardware that includes vintage synthesizers, tape effects, and a manipulated trumpet.

The result would not be out of place on the vintage 4AD, or through the output of Creation records alum produced by Brian Eno.

The debut 12” EP, Memory Bells, was released in 2017 on Lobster Sleep Sequence, a sub-label of London-based techno label Lobster Theremin. Subsequent releases have appeared on Vergez’s own label, Noir Age. He lives and works in Miami, FL.

“Don’t Get Me Wrong” is one of 23 tracks on DKA’s third compilation in their ongoing Tape Programme series.

DKA Tape Programme Vol. III is a deep dive into EBM, Industrial, Noise, Minimal Synth, Acid, and Post-punk. A diverse collection of tracks from wonderful musicians that deserve to be showcased.

Tape Programme Vol. III is out  February 7, 2020
