Reported by Australian website The Music, Cave took a moment to mention to the crowd:
“We’ve really nearly finished a new record, I would say, and it’s an amazing thing in my opinion. I’m very, very excited about it.”
This album will be the follow up to 2016’s harrowingly emotional LP Skeleton Tree. a record which the singer has been touring extensively in support of for the past several years.
Cave’s wife Bick previously made the announcement of the new album’s development via her aptly named blog The Vampire’s Wife while enduring a bout of “autumn flu”.
In the post she goes on to elaborate that while under the weather, Cave “almost immediately drops what he is doing” and looks after her, while remarking that she is especially vulnerable while sick, seemingly due to the lingering grief caused by the death of her and Cave’s son Arthur in 2015.
She goes on to say that despite this, Cave is not able to be with her at the time, as he was “in LA making a new record”. Bick then went on to that the new songs would reveal themselves to Cave at night through his own fever dreams.
“They are his Fever Songs.”
