Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds | From Her to Eternity

On June 18th, 1984, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released their debut, From Her to Eternity, an album whose title is a pun on the book/movie From Here to Eternity. Tracks on the record feature the Leonard Cohen cover of Avalanche, the single In the Ghetto on CD reissues, and a title track that 3 years later caused Angels and Trapeze artists to fall in love under the skies of Berlin. This classic album was fresh off the breakup of The Birthday Party, and was the beginning of a long collaboration between Nick Cave and Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten

“Well, I guess we weren’t kicking people in the teeth anymore. I mean, it just became different. I wanted it to be more lyrically orientated and getting Blixa Bargeld from Einstürzende Neubauten in the group made an incredible difference. He’s a completely kind of atmospheric guitarist and incredibly economical and it gave me room to breathe.”-Nick Cave

Watch below Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds perform “From Her to Eternity”, a song penned by Anita Lane, in the Wim Wenders film Der Himmel Uber Berlin:

2. “Cabin Fever!”
