Ahead of their “Definitive Edition” release of their 1981 debut album Movement, New Order has announced a video series called Transmissions, a documentary style series of interviews with all four original members of the band chronicling their transition from Joy Division to New Order, and the creation of their first album after the suicide of front-man Ian Curtis—which occurred just as the band were set to embark on their first North American tour.
Episode 2 includes an interview with Gillian Gilbert on the recording of Movement, where she discusses her experience of recording the album in the aftermath of Ian Curtis’ death during somber night sessions with Factory Records producer Martin Hannett.
