Ahead of their “Definitive Edition” release of their 1981 debut album Movement, New Order has announced a video series called Transmissions, a documentary style series of interviews with all four original members of the band chronicling their transition from Joy Division to New Order, and the creation of their first album after the suicide of front-man Ian Curtis—which occurred just as the band were set to embark on their first North American tour.
Watch the trailer below:
The Movement “Definitive Edition” boxed set will be released this April on both CD and vinyl in a 4-disc collection that also includes a bonus CD filled with previously unreleased demos and a DVD of early live appearances and television appearances—plus a hard backed book all housed in a lift off lid box.
One of those performances was of the band’s Ian Curtis penned “Ceremony”, which had initially been planed as the follow up single to Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart”.
This version of “Ceremony” was filmed at Manchester’s CoManCHE Student Union on February 6, 1981, and had only been previously available on the FACT 56 compilation video.

In addition to the compilation will be the release of the manchester post-punk band’s first four 12-inch singles “Ceremony (Version 1),” “Ceremony (Version 2),” “Everything’s Gone Green” and “Temptation”, all in their original sleeves starting March 8th.
The Movement: Definitive Edition box set will be released April 5th, and can be pre-ordered now via Amazon.co.uk. The box set can also be pre-order directly from the band in bundles that include additional 12-inch singles and a T-shirt.
The first two discs of the box set, are the original Martin Hannett produced album, with it’s iconic sleeve featuring the catalog number Fact. 50 on both vinyl and CD formats.
The third disc is a CD that includes 18 tracks, which are for the most part demos, but also include two rehearsal recordings of “Procession” and “Chosen Time”, and two alternate mixes including the 7-inch mix of “Temptation” and a first mix of “Ceremony.”
