Nashville Dark Electronic Music Project She Comes in Colors Debuts New Single “Cold”

I feel it missing in my heart

In 2021, an unusual music project started to emerge in Nashville’s renowned music scene. Led by Lenny Bryan and featuring various guest vocalists, such as Monica Moment, Nina, and Miriam Speyer, She Comes in Colors creates a unique fusion of dream pop with the dark electronic sounds of NIN and Depeche Mode’s Violator-era. The project is less about floating on clouds and more about zipping through a neon-lit soundscape on a retro-futuristic scooter. In this musical fusion, the traditional and modern blend, exchanging knowing nods and dancing together under the moonlight.

In the latest musical dispatch from She Comes In Colors, there’s a fresh voice at the helm – enter Nina, making her debut with a project with the single Cold. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill mopey ballad; it’s a bold proclamation of feeling utterly nothing. Imagine that – a song that captures the spirit of staring blankly into the refrigerator at midnight. Cold eschews the typical confessional diary entries set to music for something akin to a manifesto of numbness. Forget waving the white flag – this is a lyrical shoulder-shrug to the universal blahs.

Amidst this luminous chaos, Nina pushes her way through the song as a powerful beacon of nonchalance. With each blasé echo of “nothing in my heart,” she’s less the starry-eyed singer and more the queen of cool detachment. Her performance is less a display of raw emotion and more a masterclass in the art of the sophisticated shrug. In a world where everyone’s over-sharing their feelings, Nina embodies the spirit of “Meh, feelings. Who needs ’em?” with a glint of cynicism in her eye.
