Morrissey’s thoughts on Cecil the Lion | Plus an incident with the TSA earlier this week

[dropcap]Say[/dropcap] what you will about Morrissey’s strident views on animal rights, he is spot on in this recent  true-to-you.net blog post regarding the tragic murder of Cecil the Lion:

“So much love in such a very cruel world. I say the latter as I read about Walter James Palmer of Eden Prairie in Minnesota who murdered the very beautiful and much-loved lion named Cecil, so trusting of people and leading such a contented life until Walter James Palmer (a dentist at River Bluff Dental in Minnesota) lured Cecil to a death that took 40 hours of pain before the lion died. How does our society produce people as evil as Walter James Palmer? Well, Melissa Bachman (also of Minnesota) got away with it, so the shootists’ door swings open time and again in the USA. Kill for fun.

and regarding human rights, Morrissey in another blogpost written that day, writes that as he was flying from San Francisco to London earlier in the week, a San Francisco security official groped his genitals. Morrissey, however, apparently had someone on his side, as a pair of British Airways Special Services members, had witnessed the assault—and supposedly corroborate his story below:

Before I could gather my belongings from the usual array of trays I was approached by an “airport security officer” who stopped me, crouched before me and groped my penis and testicles. He quickly moved away as an older “airport security officer” approached.

The officer who sexually assaulted me was identified as the General Manager On Duty. Luckily I was accompanied by two members of British Airways Special Services, who were horrified at the sexual attack and suggested that I lodge a complaint. I asked if there would be any point in lodging a complaint since, as with any complaint against a figure in “authority”, the complaints are simply collected in order to protect the guilty officer should the matter go further. The British Airways Special Services employees assured me that a complaint was worthwhile, and so I filed the appropriate information. However, before doing so, the guilty “officer” was confronted, and the conversation went thus:

You have just sexually groped this man.
Officer: That’s just your opinion.
What you have done is illegal.
Officer: That’s just your opinion.
You have no right to do what you have just done.
Officer: That’s just your opinion.
