Morrissey has premiered the first single from his upcoming 11th studio album Low in High School. As yesterday’s inaugural Tweet indicated the song is indeed called “Spent the Day in Bed”. The song is a critique on society’s current relationship with the news media with lyrics that warn:
“Stop watching the news, Because the news contrives to frighten you, To make you feel small and alone.”
The song is available instantly with pre-orders of Low in High School—which is due out is out on November 17th. See the full tracklisting below.
Morrissey also announced a U.S. tour in support of the record via Twitter:

As reported by Pitchfork, Morrissey’s dates apparently include shows in New York, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, St. Louis, Paso Robles, CA, and Portland, OR.
