Morrissey’s tour of Canada has been postponed due to a medical emergency. The tour was to have begun Sunday night in Vancouver, but now at least the first several dates scheduled have been pushed back towards the autumn.
The venue in Toronto made the announcement via Facebook that “due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe,” adding that “the artist is on the path to a swift recovery.”
The postponement was initially announced through a post via Morrissey’s official Facebook account, but has since been deleted.
That post had stated:
“Due to a medical emergency stemming form an accident incurred while traveling in Europe, Morrissey will be forced to postpone his performances in Vancouver [to] October 14th and 15th, 2019. Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery. All tickets will be valid for the new date and exchanges will not be necessary. Thank you for your understanding.
Morrissey looks forward to making his long-awaited return to the city and wishes to deeply thank everyone for their patience. All remaining dates on Morrissey’s tour will resume as planned, commencing in Toronto on Friday Apr 26.”
Additionally, the Edmonton concert has been postponed until October 10th, with the Calgary date yet to be canceled. Fans have been receiving alerts from Ticketmaster that also include the message about Morrissey’s medical emergency, which states that the tour will resume in Toronto on April 26th. This may imply that concerts in Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg also are also to be rescheduled.
Given that this is a short tour, with two nights in Toronto closing it out, it is unclear at this time if the entire thing will be postponed, or just the first six dates.
