Morrissey announces new album ‘Low In High-School’ to be released this November

Morrissey has signed a brand new record deal with BMG, and will be releasing his 11th studio album Low In High-School on November 17, 2017.

This is outspoken Mancunian’s first solo release since 2014’s World Peace Is None Of Your Business, which was fraught with turmoil upon release due a conflict with with his then label Harvest—where the singer claimed that ‘working with them almost killed him‘.

Morrissey is joining the ranks of other Post-Punk alumni at Bertelsmann Music Group, who have recently added Echo and the Bunnymen, and Gary Numan to their artist roster.

The new LP Low In High-School, was produced by Joe Chiccarelli, and was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios.

“There are not many artists around today that can compare to Morrissey,” said Korda Marshall, EVP of BMG. “He is an extraordinary talent. He is prodigious, literate, witty, elegant and above all, courageous. His lyrics, humour and melodies have influenced many generations.

“The music on this new landmark record will speak for itself and we are delighted to welcome him to BMG.”

Morrissey has announced a launch show at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday November 10th, with several other dates leaked via Spotify recently, but still not officially confirmed.

Additionally, the Morrissey biopic England Is Mine, already released in the UK, is set to be released in US theatres this week. Watch the trailer below, and go here to find showtimes near you.
