Montreal’s DRØME Conjures Atmospheric Post-Punk Dreams in New Single “Depression Dance”

Dance delivers a decisive blow against the murk of depression, offering a haven from the haze of mental misery. Through rhythmic routines, individuals articulate emotions that words stumble to describe, finding freedom and relief in each fluid move. The physicality sparks endorphin eruptions, nature’s own cheerleaders against the cloud of gloom. Additionally, dance forges friendships and cuts through isolation and loneliness like a hot knife through butter.IIt demands focus, yanking attention away from spirals of negativity and into the here and now. Overall, dance serves as a holistic healer, merging physical vigour, emotional expression, and social solidarity into a remedy for the soul.

Montreal’s DRØME addresses the importance of physical movement to combat the blues with their latest track, Depression Dance. DRØME, fronted by the formidable F. Dupouy and bolstered by bassist/keyboardist A. Tomeno, stirs a storm of sound blending post-punk and shoegaze with a touch of dark electro. Their latest track is a stroll through a dreamscape, where reverberated guitars and delay-soaked melodies collide, crafting a bittersweet ballet of mood and memory.

With Depression Dance, DRØME dives into a duality of despair and delight. The song spins tales from travels, merging haunting harmonies with hauntingly catchy tunes. Here, dance and movement become more than mere motions—they’re manoeuvres against melancholy, a rhythmic rebellion against the relentless grip of gloom. Their sound fits perfectly together in a playlist with bands such as A Place to Bury Strangers, DIIV, Slowdive, and Soviet Soviet.

The Echoes Within EP will be released on October 4th on vinyl and digital via Velouria Records. Listen to Depression Dance below and pre-order the album here.

The band will do an album launch on October 4th in Montreal at Turbo Haus with The City Gates + special guest.
