Massive Attack are Now Covering Bauhaus’ Bela Lugosi’s Dead on Their Mezzanine Tour

The Passion of Covers…

Trip Hop legends Massive Attack continue with their tour unveiling another surprise cover during their ongoing 21st anniversary tour in celebration of their seminal album Mezzanine.

Not only do the honor the legacy of Cocteau Twins by reuniting with vocalist Elizabeth Fraser, who was featured on several tracks on the critically acclaimed album from 1998, but since their second night in Amsterdam on February 2nd, Massive Attack have dusted the cobwebs off of their cover of Bauhaus’ Bela Lugosi’s Dead.

The song is fitting tribute during Massive Attacks set, given that post-punk legends Bauhaus were also heavily influenced by Reggae.

Not only that, but Bauhaus was one of the first artists to be released on Cocteau Twins’ future label, paving the way from Fraser’s career which ultimately led to her collaboration with Massive Attack

Bauhaus bassist David J Haskins took to social media to remark at his delight about the cover:

“Robert (3D) Del Naja AKA, singer with Massive Attack once told me that he went with a 12 year old Tricky to see Bauhaus play in Bristol in the the early 80’s and that was the start of Massive Attack.

They are one of my all time favorite bands so this tribute makes my soul smile”

Previously, Massive Attack had only cover Bela Lugosi’s Dead only once before during a concert at The Park Avenue Armory in New York on September 30th, 2013 for a special collaboration with documentary film-maker Adam Curtis.

Below, check out video footage of Massive Attack performing Bela Lugosi’s Dead:
