Los Angeles Synth-Pop Duo CD Ghost Debut Video for “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”

Los Angeles synthpop outfit CD Ghost announces the release of a new video for their new single, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” hot off their freshly unfurled LP Night Music (via Born Losers Records). Written during a pandemic while the duo was split between L.A. and Beijing, the project reflects on solitude, change, and the passage of time.

Night Music was conceived as an ode to night, inspired by the musical tradition of nocturnes – songs written about or for the world that exists after dark. I Don’t Wanna Live Forever exemplifies this trend, a melancholy synthpop anthem dedicated to living moment to moment.

The wistful song, taking cues from Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi, and Washed Out, is illustrated in a series of disjointed landscapes. Interior worlds, exterior worlds. Places of performance, and places of contemplation. This liminal space evokes modern German Expressionism as well as ethereal nature of half-remembered moments. Is this what the mind presents to us in final moments? Fragments of shared experience, joy, mirth, grief. This is the human experience – make the most of it.

Watch below:

CD Ghost, comprised of Cody Han and Blake Dimas, produce dreamy and danceable surrealist synth-pop.

Night Music is their debut with Born Losers Records, expanding their dream pop palette toward the edges of dark wave, avant-pop, and shoegaze. The LP was conceived as an ode to the musical tradition of nocturnes – songs written about or for the night. Observe the changes of the moon as cool air begins to surround you, and you pass into the astral plane. Listen below and order here:
