Los Angeles Post-Punk Trio Automatic Debut Their Video for “Strange Conversations”

Ahead of their looming European tour, Los Angeles post-punk trio, Automatic have debuted their video for “Strange Conversations”.

Automatic, for those uninitiated, are a DIY post-punk trio from Los Angeles featuring the talents of Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals),  and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals) and Lola Dompé (drums, vocals). The band started playing live in 2017, taking their name from the track Automatic from the GoGo’s 1981 debut LP Beauty and the Beat.

The video for “Strange Conversations”—the third single from Signal—was directed by Samsonite, edited by Samsonite & Ross Harris, and stars Sarah Abney, Automatic, and friends.

The song’s languid new-wave groove sets the tone for lonely and inebriated people watching at a concert venue and bar, as the beer light guides bleary eyes from person to person, as a bootle twirls in their hand.

Automatic have just finished their month-long residency at Los Angeles’ The Echo on August 26th, and released their debut LP Signal on the

European and UK dates are scheduled for October, with a North American tour with Black Marble to follow in November.
