This October, get ready to experience once again the premier event of the Los Angeles underground music scene.
Restless Nites, in association with La Sombra Luminosa, Das Bunker, and Dream, announce the return of SUBSTANCE Festival for its 2022 edition. The event is an annual celebration of dark rock, high-force industrial, percolating electronics, and strident post-punk from 21-22 October at the Los Angeles Theatre.
The year’s festival promises a wild mix of classic darkwave music styles and all their progeny.
The stellar lineup for this year includes Jesus and Mary Chain, The Chameleons, Clock DVA, Absolute Body Control, Light Asylum, Youth Code, Sextile, Kontrvoid, Cabaret Voltaire co-founder Stephen Mallinder, and Kittin and the Hacker. But that’s not all…an assortment of Berlin artists will be joining them, such as Schwefelgelb. Plus, Linea Aspera is also included on the bill, as well as Qual (Lebanon Hanover), Kaelan Mikla from Iceland, Mareux, and Belgian cold wavers Parade Ground.
There will also be a greater emphasis toward female underground and LGBTQIA+ artists, including LustSickPuppy, Cumgirl8, KUMO 99, Patriarchy, and Model/Actrtiz.
And Boy Harsher will close out the final day with a devastating dance party in the Ballroom!
This is not to be missed for Angelenos and those who plan on traveling from out of town to the City of Angels.
