Los Angeles Darkwave Duo It Spoke In Tongues Debut Video for “Inferior and Human”

Introducing the Los Angeles-based Darkwave duo, It Spoke In Tongues, who are making waves with their latest single, “Inferior and Human”. This track is the lead single from their forthcoming new LP, set to be released on vinyl through the esteemed noise label, Phage Tapes. The music video for “Inferior and Human” is an unnerving piece of art created by Daniel Shanken, utilizing AI technology. This choice of medium serves as a poignant reflection on the song’s lyrical themes, which delve into the growing inevitability of human dependence on technology.

Following their self-titled EP released in 2022, It Spoke In Tongues has spent the last two years meticulously honing their sound. Their music encapsulates the essence of urban modern life, blending dystopian realism with despair. The band’s sound is characterized by EBM rhythms, analog bass-heavy arps, claustrophobic coldwave synths, and bleak, haunting lyrics and vocals. This fusion creates an atmosphere of modern hopelessness delivered with an aggressively bleak edge.

“Inferior and Human” is a dynamic and bombastic song with a cinematic quality reminiscent of contemporary European goth and darkwave music, mixed elements of 90s Gothic Rock and Industrial. The track features cavernous vocals augmented by beats that border on Electro and EBM, adding to its intense and immersive auditory experience.

The music video is a surreal journey, evoking the unsettling atmospheres of 70s sci-fi classics like Zardoz and Logan’s Run, mixed with the iconic surrealism of Terry Gilliam and the dystopian imagery of The Matrix. This feverish nightmare of a video complements the song’s themes perfectly, making for an unsettling visual and auditory experience.
