Los Angeles Dark Electronic Duo Sleek Teeth Debut EBM-Driven Single “Gone”

Is this how it feels?

Los Angeles-based duo Sleek Teeth crafts moody, rhythmic electronic pieces that find their niche in the electric atmosphere of underground dance venues. Incorporating darkwave, electro-pop, and EBM, the compositions dive deep into feelings of isolation and the quest for understanding amid chaos, all the while maintaining catchy hooks. The music features ethereal vocals, underscored by intense rhythms, providing a simultaneously dynamic and emotionally charged experience. While there’s an undeniable undertone of melancholy, there’s also a quest for clarity that perhaps only music can illuminate.

Gone” marks Sleek Teeth’s evocative introductory track. With its minimalist yet striking foundation, listeners traverse an accelerating pace, experiencing the disorienting sensation of shifting realities and a dark euphoria as the distorted vocals reach the track’s intense zenith. It’s the perfect club banger, but therein lies a masked poignancy.

In Gone‘s lyrics, there’s an overwhelming sense of disorientation and alienation. The repetition underscores a desperate attempt to grasp the unattainable, and the feeling of falling without salvation. The unsettling realization of seeing oneself as another speaks to a profound internal estrangement, a soul grappling with introspection and external loss.

Gone is an awakening of sorts, a shift in consciousness that hits like a fever dream,” says the band. “There’s no promise of some enlightening revelation to come, and it’s that terrifying feeling of losing your grip on reality where real transformation can take place.”

Drawing from the legacy of luminaries like Bronski Beat, Cabaret Voltaire, She Past Away, DAF, and even the unexpected touches reminiscent of Fine Young Cannibals, Sleek Teeth isn’t just a mosaic of these influences. They take these familiar auditory echoes and mould them, creating a distinctive and foreboding sonic signature that sets them apart. While one can recognize the undertones of these iconic groups, Sleek Teeth stands firmly in its unique identity, demonstrating how they’ve artfully synthesized their influences while introducing their own fresh perspective to the genre.

And they’re just getting started.
