Did you know my life got bitter and harder than before?
Bedroom pop project M!R!M is back with the retrofuturistic video for “Post Fight”, an iridescent space-age synth-wave reverie that is as catchy as it is captivating.
M!R!M, is the solo guise of Jack Milwaukee, an Italian multi-instrumentalist based in London since 2011. The latest single, “Post Fight” is the first track from Jack’s forthcoming album Time Traitor, scheduled for release this spring via Avant! Records.
Like a sci-fi lullaby that seeks to escape the misery of the present, “Post Fight” takes its inspiration from 80s synth-pop dreamscapes and swirls them around with traces of the melancholia of coldwave and darkwave. Though it retreats into its own aural comfort, the song is a creative evolution that has steadily progressed since M!RM!’s beginnings, from the first releases on labels such as Fabrika and Manic Depression, up until the project’s Avant! debut with the previous record The Visionary back in 2020.
The video for “Post Fight”, written, directed, edited, and acted by Giulio Letizi & Anna Calzavara, sees an astronaut exploring a craggy purple-tinged alien terrain. Like a scene from Mario Bava’s 1965 cult classic film Planet of The Vampire, this retro vision of science fiction perfectly captures the beauty and terror of the song’s lyrics and atmosphere.

Two years into the global pandemic sees Jack Milwaukee preparing to release his most personal album to date—a record that ventures towards the hazy margins of a mystical fantasy world, lost within the veiled memories of a generation’s collective childhood.
Tuning in to the frequencies of FM radio channels from a dream-laced phantasmagoria remembered only moments after waking, M!R!M’s fourth studio album Time Traitor is an amalgamation of unabashed 80s nostalgia translated through Jack’s unique DIY/lo-fi approach.
The album is out on April 22 via Avant! Records.
