Listen to Twin Tribes “Ceremony”—One of the best Darkwave Albums Released in 2019

One of the best darkwave and post-punk albums released this year is definitely Ceremony by Mexican American Goth Duo Twin Tribes.

Following the release of the critically acclaimed debut LP Shadows, Twin Tribes has slowly been growing their fanbase the past year through touring across the United States, sharing the stage with popular artists such as She Past Away, Zanias, ACTORS, Kaelan Mikla, Selofan, and Ash Code, and more.

The growing notoriety of the band is far from unearned, as rarely does a band take such a gloomy post-punk sound and pull it off so earnestly, while subtly infusing it with their Mexican background.

In fact, It seems like a no-brainer that HBO will inevitably have to include Twin Tribes in season two of Los Espookysjoining their contemporaries Mueran Humanos, Hoffen, and more in evoking a dreamworld phantasmagoric version of Mexico City.

While their previous outing Shadows had a black magick bruja theme throughout, their new album Ceremony is a collection of songs demonstrating sorrowful reverence for the dead, and meditation on how precious our time and mortality invariably is.

Like an ofrenda decorated with the marigolds and mementos celebrating loss, Ceremony entreats mourning through dance—and does so splendidly through its three singles, Heart & Feather”, The River, and “Fantasmas”—as does the rest of this brilliant album.

Ceremony is set to release this Friday, December 13th, with the vinyl shipping throughout the winter of 2019 through a triumvirate of labels: Manic Depression Records, Negative Gain Productions, and Young & Cold Records.
