Seattle post-punk duo Black Ferns following the premiere of their unsettling video for “It’s In Your Nature”, are streaming their new album Devices, from which the striking and suspenseful track had been culled from.
Devices is a haunting exploration is brooding bass and stormy guitars, and icy synths, evoking the transition from early 80s post-punk, to late 80s alternative rock, done so with faint allusions to the dark psychedelia of the 60s.
Ultimately, Devices is an impressive second outing from the duo of Chris Jordan (bass) and Zoran Macesic channel part Jesus and Mary Chain, part Cure, and part Love and Rockets, all shaken in cold steel and poured into a tumbler, evoking the aural sensation of driving down the Pacific Coast Highway with the stark gray tones of ominous thunder clouds overhead.
