From the wilds of Montreal, Canada come Yoo Doo Right, an experimental post-punk outfit melding elements of Krautrock, shoegaze and 60s psychedelia. Sounding like an intriguing mix of Echo & The Bunnymen, The Gun Club, The Fall, and Kraftwerk, their powerful “wall of sound” approach is all-engulfing in a warm, delicious sonic embrace.
Their latest release, A Murmur, Boundless To The East, is out now via Mothland. This is a herculean effort of exploration, yielding an expansive sound with rich dynamics.
The band spoke with Post-Punk.com about their next endeavours:
Hey guys! How are you? What does a typical day look like for you at the moment?
Well, right now we’re stuck on a closed highway in Austria due to an accident. The view is beautiful. We’re doing pretty well. We’re on tour in Europe right now so we’re waking up each morning driving to a new town to see some new faces and eat a lot of bread.
We want to say how much we loved A Murmur, Boundless to the East. What do you hope fans/listeners take home from it?
I guess we hope they take the time to find something for themselves in it. Whether it is on a long walk or whatever circumstances, hopefully it can evoke an authentic feeling in some form. Light a fire.
What else is next for you? Any other projects/goals for the near future?
The release show for this album is June 17th and it’s outdoors in Montreal as a part of this great festival Suoni Per il Popolo. After that, we head to Calgary to play Sled Island and some more gigs closer to home a bit later. I think after that we’re going to take it easy and start writing new things.
