Listen to Bauhaus’ Previously Unreleased Bela Session Track “Some Faces”

Bauhaus’ Beck Studios Bela session is out today on vinyl in celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary. Along with the release comes the sharing of that session’s recording of “Some Faces”. This is a Bauhaus track that until now, could only be heard via poor quality bootlegs, such as the one from the Northampton band’s Racecourse Pavilion, gig on March 3rd 1979.

Listen to the studio version from January 26th, 1979 below:

Here is the complete EP available to listen to via Spotify:

And Bandcamp:

During the Bela Session, 3 other tracks were recorded besides the titular “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”, and the rare “Some Faces”, such as the ska reggae inspired song  “Harry”, (named after Blondie’s Debbie Harry) which would later on the Kick in Eye (Searching For Satori) EP, and the CD version of Mask. “Bite My Hip” would later be re-recorded as the single “Lagartija Nick”. And also included on the EP is the original version of “Boys”.

A bit of trivia, the EP’s sleeve, which is an inverted version of the original version of Bela’s Lugosi’s Dead single, actually is a grainy copy of a still from the D. W. Griffith film The Sorrows of Satan.

Meanwhile, Peter Murphy and David J continue on the Ruby Celebration Tour, playing Bauhaus’ In The Flat Field in its entirety.
