Preview of Berlin Atonal 2015

[dropcap]World[/dropcap] premieres will be more than plentiful at this year’s Berlin Atonal: Barry Burns of Mogwai and Kangding Ray will present their new collaboration SUMS; Shackleton’s live show Powerplant will be debuting; Alessandro Cortini will present both Immediate Horizon, a collaboration with Lawrence English, and the first audio-visual performance of his solo works Sonno; and Samuel Kerridge’s Fatal Light Attraction can be heard and seen live for the first time.

Fans of industrial music should make sure to see the first German screening of Amélie Ravalec and Travis Collins’ music documentary Industrial Soundtrack for the Urban Decay, dealing with the genre’s rich history and most influential figures. Featured in the documentary – among others – are Clock DVA, which are also part of the festival’s lineup.

Furthermore there’ll be Ugandan Methods (Regis + Ancient Methods), Lustmord, Ben Frost collaborating with MFO, CoH together with visual artist Tina Frank, and many more. Check out the complete lineup in the timetable below (click to view full-size):

The relaunched festival – originally founded in 1982 by Tresor-owner Dimitri Hegemann and discontinued in 1990 – has an extensive installation programme this year, displaying Pierre Bastien’s Mecanology in 4 Rooms (2015), Rainer Kohlberger’s not even nothing can be free of ghosts (2015), LaytbeuisSusurrus Lights, Aggregate IV (2015), and Transforma’s Dark Flow (2015).

Berlin Atonal 2015 will be taking place from the 19th to 23rd August in a former power plant at Köpenicker Strasse 70 in central Berlin, called Kraftwerk Berlin.

Tickets can be obtained through the festival’s website.
