Korine have been impacted by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic like the rest of us. They were about to embark on a sprawling tour of the U.S.A. when everything started shutting down. However, keyboardist Trey Frye and vocalist Morgy Ramone weren’t going to be beaten. They procured a camera, Twitch account, green screen, their pal DEYZI to generate some amazing psychedelic effects behind them and voila! The first great quarantine stream was let loose on Twitch on March 15th.
Playing a set of ten songs, four of which are brand new, the streamed concert lasted for about an hour total with the band taking time to acknowledge the audience throughout. Thanks to the Twitch app, they were also able to take donations whilst jamming. You can see a little of what you missed below thanks to Born Losers records uploading, “Burning Up”, from the session. All in all, a very ingenious way to still let their fans hear the new tunes and older favorites in a time when spirits are at a low.
Due to the overwhelming outpouring of love and support, they are doing it again, this Sunday, March 22nd. Trey said they were going to, “change it up a bit” for the upcoming broadcast as well as doing a DJ set immediately following. Please see the graphic below for the time it will air in your part of the world.
Please keep in mind too that tomorrow, March 20th, Bandcamp made the following announcement: “To raise even more awareness around the pandemic’s impact on musicians everywhere, we’re waiving our revenue share on sales this Friday, March 20 (from midnight to midnight Pacific Time), and rallying the Bandcamp community to put much-needed money directly into artists’ pockets.” Please be sure to seek out your favorite artists’ pages there and buy merch and music to help support them in these bleak times.
