Perfect hosts and room ghosts shout
I don’t care what they say
They can fight it out
I mean to tell you
Nobody loves you more
Love, that steady lighthouse beam, holds firm when the sea rages wild. It anchors the soul, tethering the heart to something true, even as life’s tempests threaten to capsize every hope. When waves crash and currents pull, love is the harbor—a sanctuary, a calm amidst the chaos. It steadies trembling hands on the ship’s wheel, guiding through mist and storm. Love buoys the spirit, a lifeline cast when waters rise and the horizon vanishes into uncertainty. It’s the faithful compass pointing home, the ballast that keeps one from drifting aimlessly, grounding us even when we’re tossed by life’s surging tides.
As Kim Deal, the indomitable voice and guitarist of the Breeders, soon embark on a 2025 tour heralding her forthcoming solo album; Nobody Loves You More, she bestows upon listeners one more preview: the title track, out today.
Nobody Loves You More pulses with a steadfast love, one so profound it dims the world’s cacophony into hushed irrelevance. Amid disorientation, the beloved’s presence becomes the anchor, the compass, the reason. Deal’s voice—steady, true, unadorned—delivers every line with sincerity, drawing out feelings that resonate deeply. The song swells with a horn breakdown, all brassy brilliance, and nostalgic nods, recalling the grandeur of a bygone Rosemary Clooney era. It’s a tender gem, simple yet achingly sweet.
Alex Da Corte’s video is a surreal slice of simplicity: Deal adrift on an endless sea, serenading a pink flamingo as if sharing secrets with the wind. Waves shimmer, and the scene unfolds like a daydream—a playful, poignant reverie that pairs perfectly with the song’s gentle, heartfelt plea. It’s a serenade adrift, a love letter afloat in endless blue.

Much of the album found life within the walls of Chicago’s Electrical Audio, captured in November 2022 under the late, legendary Steve Albini. Collaborators gathered, a constellation of talent: Breeders bandmates Kelley Deal and Jim Macpherson, former comrades Mando Lopez and Britt Walford, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, with Marta Salogni shaping the mix and Heba Kadry mastering its final form.
Kim Deal’s journey kicks off with a heartfelt, stripped-down in-store set at Chicago’s Reckless Records on November 22, honoring the album’s release. Come March 2025, the full tour launches, crossing the Atlantic for a London debut on March 1 and crescendoing at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Primavera Sound Porto.
“Nobody Loves You More” the album is out on November 22, 2024.
