[dropcap]On[/dropcap] Kanye West’s latest album Life of Pablo, the Yeezy one has sampled part of Factory Records band Section 25’s song Hit, a track off of 1981’s Always Now This is most likely the result of Kanye’s alleged habit of hiring interns to decide what samples and influences to appropriate. In this particular case, Kanye had probably requested something like Joy Division, but not too obvious (because even One Direction like Joy Division apparently).
The sample is from about 20 seconds into Hit, and appears around 2:55 on Kanye’s track FML
Sorry Kanye, this will not buy you any more hipster points, and Kendrick Lamar is indeed everything you claim to be, but better.
