Joy Division’s “Unknown Pleasures” to get 40th Anniversary Edition on Red Vinyl with a White Sleeve

To commemorate their iconic post-punk debut LP’s 40th Anniversary this June, Joy Division are set a special red vinyl edition of Unknown Pleasures.

This is part of a larger campaign where the band has teamed up with fashion & lifestyle retailer Goodhood and legendary art director Peter Saville to seminal 1979 album issue with catalog designation Fact 10.

According to the announcement, the album’s iconic black sleeve, which features the plotting of Pulsar cp1919, had its original design featuring the artwork white-with-black accents, instead of the other way around.

Along with the vinyl, Goodhood has produced a collaborative capsule collection that spans apparel, homeware, and accessories, such as shoes, bag, pillows, lighters, phone cases and more. Sadly, no oven mitts this time.

The limited edition 40th anniversary version of Unknown Pleasures will June 14th, almost forty years to the day after the album’s original release. The LP will be pressed on 180g ruby red vinyl with an alternative white sleeve resembling the original design idea. The collection runs at Goodhood from June 27th to July 11th.

The 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Unknown Pleasures vinyl is available to buy from the 14th of June and in-store at Goodhood.
