Joseph Maus, Brother and Bandmate of John Maus has Passed Away

Musician Joseph Maus—bandmate of synthwave/post-punk musician John Maus, died yesterday on tour with his brother while in Cesis, Latvia.

He was only 30 years old.

John Maus’ label Ribbon Music confirmed the death via Twitter this evening:

“We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Joe’s family, Robert Sue, Kevin, Stephanie, and John Maus, as well as his bandmates Luke and Jonathan, his friends, and all those suffering this tragic loss,” the label said in its statement.

The official cause of death is unknown at this time. Naturally,  All of John Maus’ tour dates on his itinerary have been cancelled.
