Japan Suicide Drop Latest Video for “For Every Flaw”

Italian post-punk band Japan Suicide‘s latest LP Santa Sangre was just released this past Valentine’s Day via Unknown Pleasures Records. The LP calls to many of the first wave of post-punk revival bands to mind, channeling the sonic energy of Editors, the catchy fuzzed out pop of Crocodiles, and the passion of Serena-Maneesh. The LP expands on the band’s previously orthodox post-punk influences to incorporate a great love of shoegaze and dreampop, a sound always welcome across the spectrum.

With that in mind, Japan Suicide has just unveiled a new single, complete with a still photo/performance video clip for “For Every Flaw.” Directed by Xavier Paella, the video documents several of the band’s recent shows, peppered with urban imagery. Still images come to life over the course of various gigs, combined with grainy, highly contrasted effects that throw back to the classic late 1980s 120 Minutes era. It’s not hard to imagine this clip playing alongside some of the Mary Chain’s earliest videos, as Japan Suicide deeply invoke similar thematic and sonic textures as the greats that inspired them.

Japan Suicide will be embarking on their first North American tour this May. Be sure to follow the band on Facebook for more information as it develops.
