Italy’s New Candys explores the meaning of duality with their new track, Twin Mime. Connecting action and consequence, personal identity both public and private, and the fooling of our own egos, the band dives deep into philosophical territory with a compelling psychedelic guitar riff. Drawing upon the energy spheres of The Horrors, Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Dandy Warhols, Twin Mime is the latest offering from their album Vyvyd, complete with a riveting new video directed by frontman Fernando Nuti.
The album’s visual and lyrical themes are carefully crafted with hidden and subliminal messages. “Of course we’re influenced by our own personal lives and the world around us, but we have always considered our music to be devoted and connected to visions and images, inspired by dreams and nightmares rather than reality, so ‘Vyvyd’ is a reference to this aspect,” says Nuti. “Vivid memories, vivid colors, sonically speaking our ideas and goals are clearer than ever.”
Vyvyd, following the widely-acclaimed Bleeding Magenta, was recorded at Fox Studio in Venice. This will be New Candys’ fourth album, and the first from the current New Candys line-up of Fernando Nuti, Andrea Volpato, Alessandro Boschiero and Dario Lucchesi. The album was mixed and mastered by producers Tommaso Colliva (Calibro 35, The Jesus And Mary Chain) and Giovanni Versari.
