New Jersey-based Indie pop darlings Dentist are premiering with us today the the video “Night Swimming”, the title track off of their third studio LP, out this month via Cleopatra Records.
In the video for “Night Swimming”, we see vocalist and bassist Emily Bornemann singing and swaying around a tiki bar that has a portrait of Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) proudly on display, while Justin Bornemann (guitar), and Matt Hockenjos (drums) perform in the back corner under the pink tinged lights.
Dentist’s Night Swimming is the kind of indie pop album seldom made since the late 80s, brimming with sweetness sincerity, evocative of the music culture of the band’s hometown of Asbury Park.
“This album was an attempt to capture all the different aspects of ourselves and create something that we would want to listen to,” explains Justin Bornemann. “Musically we are attracted to rawness and simplicity, but melodically we lean towards a pop aesthetic. The lyrics tend to be focused on social anxiety, heartache and loss, but sometimes reveal love and optimism,” adds Emily Bornemann.
Catch Dentist on their extensive US tour, starting tonight in Philly.
