Icelandic Darkwave Trio Kælan Mikla UnveilTheir Surreal Video for “Draumadis”

Icelandic darkwave trio Kælan Mikla begin their European tour tonight in support of their latest album Nótt eftir nótt—Post-Punk.com’s choice for album of the year 2018.

One of our favorite songs on the album “Draumadis”, a song we heard live while the band were on tour opening for Drab Majesty. Now, on the day the Kælan Mikla embark on their first headlining tour, with the spellbinding vocals and synths of Some Ember as the opening act, we are thrilled to share Kælan Mikla’s stunning video for “Draumadis”, whose surrealist imagery ranges from vast desolation to cavernous ritualism, where it is hard to discern if we are watching something supernatural, interplanetary, or both.

Logi Hilmarsson video director states:

“Kaelan Mikla have a very clear vision of their image and a ton of fun ideas that can be incorporated into videos. I tried to keep up with them and bring some of my concepts to create a short surreal narrative set in a place where occult rituals are used as technology and human sacrifice has unusual results. It is a dark fantasy, stylistically inspired by ’60s and ’70s Italian Horror, but really I think it is mostly a comedy.”
