This is the essence of SIIE‘s newest single, Grand Virage, their debut with Cold Transmission Music – and with it, the Swiss-German project blends darkwave, techno, and EBM into a hypnotic fusion of sound. Grand Virage propels listeners toward the April 2025 arrival of Acmé, its relentless synths surging like a tide that refuses retreat. French vocals glide over a chant-like rhythm, evoking echoes of Visage, Anne Clark, and Lizzy Mercier Descloux. The track hums with cinematic tension, conjuring the allure of unseen horizons and the sweeping grandeur of classic films. SIIE’s sound marries the tangible to the transcendent, a twilight-tinged blend that beckons admirers of the 1980s industrial edge. The lyrics trace a journey through uncertainty and illusion, where abandoned plans and fractured visions collide. It describes a battle between the disorienting mirages of unfulfilled destinations and false hopes, wrestling with frustration and yearning. Grand Virage, in turn, transforms chaos into a pulsating anthem of tension and transformation.
The self-directed music video for Grand Virage juxtaposes the song’s sweeping, road-trip-inspired energy with a stark and deliberate simplicity. A bare white wall becomes the canvas for geometric black-and-white projections, their angular patterns creating a taut visual rhythm. The confined, abstract space sharpens the focus on the song’s emotional undercurrent, turning the outward journey inward. The result is a tension-filled interplay between movement and stillness, vastness and restraint.
