Greek Darkwave Act Cinemascope Debuts Video for “In Silence”

Greek darkwave act Cinemascope have unveiled its video for “In Silence”, the first single from the project’s forthcoming new album A Crack On the Wall, a record that promises songs overflowing with betrayal, melancholia, and self-disappointment—you know, the usual dark post-punk stuff.

With this first LP is nearly eight years from musician Leo Skiadas, who sings, writes, and performs all the songs, there is a ray of hope peering through the titular wall’s crack. Offering more than just the standard doom and gloom, A Crack On the Wall explores the personal changes, new experiences, and growth that ultimately result from enduring the tragedy of a global pandemic.

This is evident on the album’s powerful first single “In silence”, a song that treads the line between gothic rock and darkwave with its infectious and danceable melody conjured by the perfect interplay of guitar and bass. With its dark groove and defiant vocals, “In Silence” invokes that old-school clove-scented cider and black sound and fuses it with the sensibilities of modern acts such as She Past Away, Twin Tribes, Drab Majesty, and Actors.

Watch the video for “In Silence” below:

On the new album, Leo Skiadas is joined on the guitar by the great Johnny Papaioannou, consider to be one of the greatest alternative musicians in Greece. This is the first time that Skiadas has let someone “intrude” on performing with him under the cinemascope moniker and has proven to be a wise decision, further developing the band’s sound.

A Crack On The Wall is out on February 14th  through Wave Records (The vinyl will be released on June 27th, 2022).
