German Darkwavers SIIE and Dark Electronic Music Artist Idoru Team Up in Their Video for “Violent”

SIIE, a Swiss/German darkwave techno duo out of Hamburg, boldly breaks traditional musical molds. Their sound is a seamless blend of the tangible and the otherworldly, drawing listeners into an ethereal, twilight-esque mystique. This distinctive style strikes a chord with aficionados of the 1980s industrial scene. In the pulse-pounding atmosphere of contemporary clubs, SIIE’s music stands out, weaving hypnotic, rhythmically rich beats that seem to hail from a parallel dimension.

Violent, the latest single from SIIE, sees them collaborating with  LA-based dark electronic music artist IDORU, who is also the cofounder of Manta Recordings. The resulting song is a fierce fusion of commanding EBM and dancefloor dynamism. This collaboration spotlights their skill in blending powerful electronic elements with driving dance rhythms.

Ferociously edgy, Violent is an EBM-soaked industrial banger in the vein of Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and A Split-Second. The track’s relentless basslines and razor-sharp synths are complemented by haunting vocals, adding a layer of intensity and emotion. The song builds anticipation with a structure that leads to explosive drops, making it a relentless ride from start to finish.

Accompanying the single is a visually striking, Neo-Expressionist music video. This minimalist masterpiece, skillfully animated by Chloé Dolić and illustrated by Anne-Marie Pappas, perfectly complements the intense and evocative nature of the track. The animation’s stark, stripped-down style lets the music take centre stage while amplifying its emotional depth.

The Violent EP packs a double punch with two special remixes. Panther Modern cranks it up and breaks it down for a distorted groove that hits hard. Meanwhile, Skelesys guides the dance disciples toward an avant-garde adventure, weaving haunting guitar solos and sinister basslines into the mix. His remix fuses unique guitar elements with electro beats, creating a blend that’s as edgy as it is exhilarating.
