À la lueur des planètes
S‘endorment les comètes
German darkwave pair SIIE are stirring up an enigmatic brew of auditory delights regarding our present-age dystopia with their first-ever EP, “À Travers.”
The detached, almost spectral French vocals recall shades of Gina X, The Flying Lizards and Delta 5, melding with a heady rhythm that ensnares your senses. Their mysterious aura radiates through ‘À Travers’, painting a biting image of existence under the unyielding reign of capitalism – a world overrun by avarice, rivalry, and the unwarranted laurels bestowed upon the undeserving.
Stepping into the spectral waltz is BadWolf, weaving the A Side of the EP with amplified bass reverberations that magnetize you towards the pulsating heart of the dance floor. The sound possesses an elemental power, yet it’s so subtly refined, it engulfs you much like a powerful tide sweeping over the shore.
SIIE doesn’t merely make music; they craft sonic landscapes that blur the line between the tangible and the fantastical. They embody an irrefutable coolness, shrouded in a twilight-like enigma, their post-punk offerings striking a chord with fans of the 80s industrial body music scene. Their tracks echo through the strobe-infused clubs, spitting out mesmerising four-on-the-floor rhythms as if they were birthed from another realm.
The seductive allure of SIIE’s vocals captures the mind, as the synths, heavy and impactful, and beats, sharp like the edge of a razor, guide you on an auditory odyssey through the nebulous shadows of the night.
The video for “À Travers,” directed by Franz Schepers, is a monochromatic, minimalistic tour de force of disjointed images, vast landscapes, and the foreboding appearance of the artists. It’s haunting and ominous – just as it was meant to be. Buckle up.
