False lovers kneel
Their vows decay
I’m the shadow
You can’t allay
In whispered cadence, as of twilight seeping into earth, the legend of Morgana unfolds: shrouded in mist, half-seen through latticework of moonlight and shadows. Morgana, enchantress and exile, dances at memory’s edge, elusive as smoke curling from a spent candle. She weaves her sorcery from sorrow and desire, haunting kings whose vows crumble beneath her quiet gaze. Hers is the lingering charm, a curse subtle and pervasive as evening rain, stirring forgotten longings. She remains suspended between myth and mortal ache, beautiful yet bitter, a wraith forever drifting in the uncertain light of dusk, compelling the heart toward ruinous yearning.
Echoberyl continues their exploration of spectral mythos with their latest single Morgana, an evocative tribute to the storied enchantress of Arthurian legend. The Paris-based darkwave duo, comprising Adriano on guitar, synth, and composition, and Cecilia lending her ethereal voice and lyricism, conjure Morgana not merely as a figure of fable, but as a living apparition suspended in perpetual twilight.
With Morgana, Echoberyl draws listeners into a delicate dance of allure and inevitability. Cecilia’s voice glides softly over Adriano’s undulating electronic rhythms, creating an atmosphere that is at once tender and foreboding. The song is a gentle spell, subtle yet irresistible, reminiscent of mist weaving through forgotten ruins at dusk. Themes of waning love and quiet despair hover gracefully throughout, infusing the music with emotional gravity.
“Because (Morgan Le Fey) has taken on many roles throughout history — at once benevolent and malevolent, powerful and vulnerable — she remains endlessly fascinating to us,” says the band.
Adriano’s DIY visuals heighten the experience. The music video, self-produced and meticulously curated, portrays Morgana as a woman of intense magnetism, adorned in a striking pearl headdress evocative of Helen Mirren’s unforgettable portrayal in Excalibur. Handmade with care by Adriano himself, the headpiece crowns Morgana’s wandering figure as she traverses verdant landscapes with commanding poise. In crafting this visual homage, Echoberyl elevates Morgana from myth into a contemporary feminist symbol: sensual, enigmatic, and empowered. Her presence in the video asserts quiet dominance, embodying power delicately restrained yet undeniably potent. It is a portrayal rich with mystique, communicating strength without words.
