Frankie Knight & Ink Project have announced the launch of their new album titled “Space Pop”. This 8-track album is a collaborative effort between two South London artists who are currently residing on the South Coast of the UK and share a similar artistic vision.
Drawing inspiration from the captivating realms of trip-hop, and evoking nostalgic echoes of classic R&B and 90s indie, Knight’s effervescent performance pays homage to everyone from Portishead to Massive Attack to The Cardigans to Sadé. The seamless fusion of these disparate influences weaves an expansively psychedelic collection, transcending boundaries and immersing us in a dreamscape of sound.
In this realm of ethereal chillwave, the music transforms into an elixir for the soul. Each track unfolds like a vivid tableau, evoking a kaleidoscope of emotions and inviting us to explore the depths of our own being. This album is not just music; it is a transformative experience, where melodies and lyrics intertwine to touch the very core of our humanity. Complementing this mesmerizing vocal journey is Ink Project’s artful touch, painting a spacious canvas with their production expertise, often weaving striking contrasts. Space Pop is adorned with a tapestry of edgy electronic percussion and hauntingly soothing atmospheres.
Adding to the multifaceted charm of this album is the captivating video for the single ‘Send It To The Moon,’ ingeniously crafted by Frankie Knight herself. Knight seamlessly blends an infectious pop lullaby with the hypnotic pulse of gritty dub-techno beats. With her artistic prowess on full display, Knight skillfully entwines ethereal scenes of lunar landscapes and celestial wonders with the urban grittiness of a techno-infused metropolis.
The clever monochromatic film unfolds like an Expressionist dream, taking viewers on a journey through a surreal landscape of sound and imagery. We see her painting her own lyrics and folding them into paper airplanes as a delivery man strolls through a stark landscape. Dance moments are intercut, an homage to our illuminating satellite. Will the message be delivered? As the dulcet tones of Knight’s vocals envelop the senses, the pulsating dub-techno rhythm electrifies the atmosphere, weaving a spellbinding fusion of contrasts.

Unleashed through Ultraphonic and meticulously honed by the hands of Dave Turner, the mastermind behind the magic at 360 Mastering (known for works with The XX, Roisin Murphy, Enya, and an illustrious roster), this album is a remarkable fusion of Frankie Knight’s unmistakably introspective and irresistibly saccharine vocals, her soul-stirring songwriting, and her tantalizing skills on the keyboard and guitar.
