Eyeless In Gaza are a post-punk/new wave musical duo of Martyn Bates and Peter Becker, based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. Formed in 1980, the band were named after the novel of the same name by Aldous Huxely.
Eyeless in Gaza are an often overlooked band to emerge from the early 80s post-punk scene. They released noteworthy records such as “Drumming The Beating Heart” and “Pale Hands She Loved So Well”, that developed a sound that touched upon industrial, new wave, avant-garde folk, ambient electronics, along with Bates’ poetic and resonant vocals occupying centre-stage.
This Monday, Cherry Red has released a boxset of their first 4 albums, and a set of non-album essentials and oddities with a sleevenote by Martyn Bates. You can order the boxyet via Amazon here
