Ethereal Synth Chanteuse Gloria De Oliveira Weaves a tale of an Impossible Love Story in “The Only Witness”

German-Brazilian musician, visual artist, and actor, known for her work in Babylon Berlin, Gloria De Oliveira has unveiled her spellbinding video for “The Only Witness”, a song originally featured on her EP Lèvres De Sang, and now on the compilation Fascination, out later this month.

The song is a dreamy slow burn of ethereal synth-pop melodies, truly spellbinding and romantic, perfectly setting the tone for a uniquely haunting love story.

The video for this love story, starring Karmela Shako, was directed & produced by Julia Ritschel, along with talents of Director of Photography Chrissi Buchmann.

Julia Ritschel is part of the sizzling German queer film scene and has already attracted attention with her lesbian short film “La Cigale et la Fourmi”, which has been screened successfully at numerous LGBTQ film festivals and was an official selection at the renowned Palm Springs Short Fest, 2016.

After “Another World”, the music video for “The Only Witness” is Julia Ritschel’s second artistic collaboration with Gloria de Oliveira.

On the video, Ritchscel had this to say:

“I wanted to tell the impossible love story between two women from seemingly different worlds, mysteriously and beguilingly, like a dark fairytale – somewhere between Lynch’s Blue Velvet, Tarkovsky’s Nostalgia and Argento’s Suspiria, infused with a decidedly female gaze.

The boundaries between dream and reality blur. Among them, a white horse – the only witness, the strength, the passion and love, but also the illusion and the destructive force between the women that are inexorably driven towards each other.”

On March 27, 2020, the compilation “FASCINATION” will be released by the Cologne-based label Reptile Music on CD and Vinyl. The record will include the 10 original tracks of the two previous EPs, as well as 7 additional remixes on CD by artists such as Gudrun Gut, Box And The Twins, Fragrance, Tellavision, and The Wide Eye.
