Don’t let that headline fool you, as fair as it is to make that comparison, Berlin based Singer Laura Carbone (originally from Mannheim), isn’t trying to sound like she is auditioning to perform at the Roadhouse in a future season of Twin Peaks.
However the comparisons have some merit in the fact that the German singer is a fan of shoegaze and Americana—especially the music of crooner Chris Isaak—who played agent Chester Desmond in the show’s feature length film Fire Walk With Me, and had his song “Wicked Game” featured in David Lynch’s follow-up film Wild At Heart.
Further regarding her connection to goth and post-punk, we were first introduced to Laura’s music when she was on tour with The Jesus and Mary Chain last year.
After the Berlin gig on that tour, our Editor Thomas Thyssen contacted Laura, and set up an interview before her private release party for her new album Empty Sea at Berlin indie rock institution 8mm Bar.
In addition to the interview filmed above, see an exclusive photo-shoot courtesy of photographer Helen Sobiralski below.
