Echo and the Bunnymen Announce “40 Years of Magical Songs” North American Tour Dates

Visa woes, unfortunately, led Echo & The Bunnymen to pull out of the Cruel World Festival this past weekend, but fear not: the band have just announced a North American tour…and a UK appearance with The Rolling Stones, no less.

“Celebrating 40 Years of Magical Songs” (also delayed due to the pandemic) will happen this year, if fate cooperates with our will this time. So far, Ian McCulloch has been delighted with the UK leg of the tour, declaring it his “favourite tour ever.”

“…Some new magical ingredient had been added to the starlight and the moonbeams and the angels and the devils that live inside the songs,” he says. “I love, and the band love, touring around America at any time, but the experiences of special night after special night in the U.K. makes me certain we will take the shows up another level or two.”

A dream will come true for McCulloch and Co in their hometown of Liverpool at Anfield, (which Mac dubs ‘the Shrine of Life and football’) as they open for the Stones. McCulloch gushed in a statement:

“I can’t explain how unbelievably happy and proud I am that my band are going to be opening up for The Rolling Stones, THE Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the History of Time…The Rolling Stones!!! And at Anfield!!! I feel honoured and blessed.”

The North American tour kicks off in Atlanta on 15 August; the Bunnymen will scamper all over the continent for the ensuing month. They’ll make stops in cities throughout Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, New York, and Philadelphia before wrapping up on 17 September in Washington DC. They will also perform in Toronto, Ontario.
