Dreamy Synth Driven Post-Punk Outfit Iron Years Debut Video for “Lucid”

It was a cold night
When it came to me
I knew I should and I wanted to
Let you go

From the south side of Chicago – namely, the Little Village neighborhood – comes Iron Years. The diverse musical environment of the city, as well as the surrounding juxtaposition of music and violence, instilled them with a desire for visceral creative expression through their songs and melodies.

Blending post-punk, freestyle, synth-pop, house, industrial, and many types of dance music, Iron Years harnesses the ambience of the inner city blasting through boomboxes and speakers. Electronic drums and pads, punk bass lines, dreamy melodic guitars, and synth arrangements reminiscent of old Italo records and Chicago house music.

The latest single off their upcoming debut album, “Lucid,” dwells in the sonic world of late 80s-lush synth production, anchored with an emotional voice. It’s made to make you move – and the cinematic video, directed by Milo Mendoza, illustrates this perfectly. Watch below – and while you’re at it, you might want to dust off your skates! The clip shows the trajectory of a lost soul finding their path, their tribe, and their identity.

Iron Years’ first album, Reverie, was recorded with Sanford Parker at the start of the pandemic and scheduled for release on December 19, 2022. The album’s themes of dystopia and hope come at a perfect time and with relevance.
