Dream Pop duo Fawns of Love debut video for the Highly Danceable “Never Sing For Joy”

Bakersfield Dreampop duo Fawns of Love have debuted their video for “Never Sing For Joy, the b-side to the t to the Robin Guthrie version of “Someday”. Both tracks are part of a 7″ that has been released by Kingfisher Bluez, athat has issued such acts as Xiu Xiu, Dirty Beaches, Peach Pit, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

“Someday (Robin Guthrie Version)” was recorded and mixed by Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins, who produced his own version of the song that originally appeared on the previously on Fawns of Love’s Permanent LP.

“Jenny and I have been huge Robin Guthrie and Cocteau Twins fans for over 20 years and have always been inspired by their songs throughout our own music endeavors. When coming in contact with Robin our discussions began with a possible remix of “Someday.” However, as time progressed, and Robin began working on the track, it quickly turned into an entire new version of the song. Robin ended up playing guitar, bass, keys, and drums on the track which created an entire new mood to the song. We are both ecstatic by the end result.”

The more Electronic music infused B-side “Never Sing For Joy” was recorded both by the Jenny and Andreotti , and at Cave Studio by Josiah Mazzaschi. The track delves into Jenny’s lyrical motifs of isolation and nihilism while utilizing a Moog synthesizer as a primary instrument.

The result is an energetic and highly danceable bass guitar driven gem, with ethereal shoegaze vocals resonating with a sound that Guthrie himself produced during the 4AD and Creation records heyday of the late 80s and early 90s.

There is also a second upcoming release from Fawns of Love titled Part Time Punks Session: Permanent Revisited, which features a live performance at Cave Studio (recorded by Josiah Mazzaschi) of five tracks that originally appeared on Permanent.

The “Someday (Robin Guthrie Version)” and “Never Sing For Joy” single is out now.
