Dove Armitage Debuts Video for Vulnerable New Single “Brittle”

Dove Armitage, the alter ego of Los Angeles songsmith Quincy Larsen (Death Valley Girls), unleashes a new single and delightfully absurdist accompanying video: “Brittle,” as the compelling vanguard of her forthcoming EP, Concernless, set to drop on the 3rd of November via KRO Records.

“Brittle” is a vulnerable number, navigating through a labyrinth of raw, emotional fragility. The ghostly and mesmerizing vocals lull us into submission until the song erupts into a cacophony of sound, as a chaotic, glitch-infused chorus takes center stage. There’s an evident dance between trying to maintain a façade of strength and confronting haunting echoes of past romances. The delicacy of touch, simultaneously treasured and feared, is a poignant metaphor for love’s double-edged sword. Heartbreak is not merely hinted at – but felt as a visceral wound. The notion of ‘home’ drifts away, lost in a dreamy haze, while shadowy secrets lurk beneath the surface. As the melody unfolds, it becomes apparent that the boundaries between reality and perception are beautifully, tragically blurred.

Brittle’ was the first track created for this collection of songs with my dear friend Liam Hall (Grandma),” says Armitage. “The song is about longing for someone, or something, that is equally as good for you as it is bad for you. It speaks to the contradictions and juxtapositions of these things and explores how so many feelings or things are not always mutually exclusive and can occupy the same space.”

For the video directed by Lazy Eye and Carson Tucker, Armitage’s magnetic charm takes center stage in dizzying absurdism, dancing provocatively for plush teddies, and donning scarlet headscarves across rural and urban backdrops.
